ALERT ALERT: at risk of losing your lustre

October 19, 2022

Full Lustre you’ll notice here on me after some serious self-care this past Spring & Summer

After barely two months since said self-care, yesterday I realized that a dullness had begun to fall over my renewed, refueled, and joyful self; that got my attention!

The moment this epiphany occurred, I quickly jumped into action. Why?? Well, because this self-care had been quite costly; not only to my finances, but also to my physical and mental being, even as it was healing the latter two.

Interestingly, Bustey’s (check out his page) godmother, Katerina, texted me last night to check on me, and I wasted no time letting her know that I needed HELP. My dear friend Margaret also checked on me and I let it all out onto her ever ready to listen ears as well; her suggestions got me to thinking and I reached out to my sister early this morning, waving the SOS flag.

I immediately accepted all assistance offered and stepped into ACTION today!!

As I drove back home this afternoon, with just little Annie in the back seat (her page coming soon on this Blog), I felt my shoulders began to relax and I experienced a catharsis…

Right now, as I type, enveloped in a sense of peace, clothed in what’s becoming a favorite flannel pajama in ice blue and plaid, high ponytail, blush pink lipstick, and pink pearl earrings, I think also about the lavender scrub shower I had, sigh!! I caught this thief, otherwise known as stress and exhaustion, before it was too late. Disaster averted!

I do not, will not play with the integrity of my recently acquired lustre. And neither should you, lest we fall prey to serious physical ailments. Here are my suggestions:

  1. identify the things that empower you
  2. create the atmosphere that empowers you
  3. nurture the relationships that will rescue you
  4. and know the signs that are signaling an ALERT is about to occur

Here are some examples in my life. I feel empowered when I have quiet time, so now I turn my phone on vibrate and prevent the outside world from intruding on my peace until it’s convenient for me.

The atmosphere that empowers me is when my space is organized and clean and there’s a plant or bouquet of flowers nearby, even as I inhale the calming scent of a candle.

I also nurture the relationships of those that I’ve identified will keep me safe; I do this by communicating with them on a regular basis as well as gifting them with an occasional present. These relationships quantify to a few so that I provide the best quality version of me to them.

Lastly, when I start noticing that I am exhausted most of the time and haven’t been able to spend some of my time enjoying activities I enjoy or cannot even get to the gym which is five minutes from my home, this is when I become aware of that danger zone and quickly implement my emergency action measures.

Just some food for thought, well not just thought, ACTION!!

More to come…

  1. Definitely needed to read this. I cant remember the last time I read a piece that was so refreshing. Seems I been staring at the danger zones and waiting for it to happen. Thank you for the light, this was necessary.
