Blind Spots

October 3, 2021

Recently, I got ready to make a purchase of $85. for a white linen sundress that had these tiny aquamarine designs on the skirt. Such a happy looking dress, I thought, as I imagined all the occasions I would wear it. It was also handmade, which I always appreciated. I tried it on right then and there, in the middle of the open air market! I asked my friend, what he thought, as he is a linen aficionado. He thought it looked nice!

Well, decisions, decisions! All week prior, I decided I needed to stay on a strict budget in order to accomplish my goals. Purchasing this dress would definitely endanger these goals. Well, I went as far as asking the vendor to make some alterations for a better fit, and exchanged phone numbers so we would keep in touch for me to make the purchase when the dress was ready.

I WAS NOW ACTING IN A BLIND SPOT, and was about to sabotage some serious financial plans. Luckily, after we left, my friend and I talked and I was reminded about my other plans and how this simple purchase was not in my best interest. Boingggg!!!

Thank goodness, what do you know!!! So, I texted the vendor with an apology for not going through with the purchase. I appreciate having someone in my life who can help me identify BLIND SPOTS when they sneak up on me, because they will!

So, you all know that the Fall Season is upon us, here on the East Coast of the U.S.A. And, I love to decorate my home with the changing seasons. Well, there I was, at Walmart waiting for a friend, INSIDE THE STORE, WHERE ALL THE FALL DECORATIONS ARE JUST STARING AT ME! I began imagining all the places I would place the various items, especially those white pumpkins and the wreaths, and that cute scarecrow. And I thought, they are so affordably priced!

My friend was not with me this time, but I heard his whisper saying, “YOU HAVE GOALS, REMEMBER THEM, WALK AWAY UNTIL ANOTHER TIME WHEN YOU CAN PURCHASE THESE!!” And I did, and I defeated another BLIND SPOT!!

More to come…
