Last week I was on the top floor of my home doing some chores and realized that my cell phone was not with me. It was on the dining table on the second floor. I briefly considered that and realized I was going to be okay. Can you imagine! This was actually a thought and self-talk occurring about my cellphone. I decided that I would not walk down a flight of stairs to reunite with my cellphone. In fact, I would be okay if I was going to be apart from it for a little while.
And guess what! No emergencies happened where I needed to have my phone nearby. I did not miss out on any catastrophic events. In fact, I found it rather freeing, that RELEASE from everything my cellphone represented in my life, even though it was mostly good things.
It felt good to be able to function without that piece of electronic for a couple of hours. I opened a few windows and listened to the sounds outside as I cleaned. It felt good to be in the moment of life.
In fact, I have even been doing the unspeakable, taking Bustey for his morning walks, quite a few blocks from where I live, you guessed it, WITHOUT MY CELLPHONE. Shortly after, I met a new friend, Tara, and was introduced to the cycle of Butterfly life (see a recent blog about it.) And, Bustey and I have been fine.
I just returned from a six-mile walk, minus my prized possession, and you guessed again, my cellphone; nothing on me but a bottle of water. I am discovering a new level of reliance and it is a dependence on nothing.
Another thing I have been releasing is the URGE TO DO EVERYTHING. When I release that desire, there’s a sense of ‘lightness’ or freedom that occurs internally and which feels so good.
There’s also the release from NOT MULTI-TASKING and instead focusing on one thing at a time. That makes me relax and realize that everything will get done.
What are some of the things that you need to RELEASE or have already released. Please share, so that we can examine in ourselves and perhaps release as well.
More to come…
I think putting our cell phones down on a regular basis, and leaving them at home when we can, is a great idea! It really is a release from the constant demands on our time and attention that cell phones represent.

Yes, agree my friend. I recently noticed that I was leaving my phone in different parts of my home, and it was actually a good feeling to not be “reached.” LOL.
